$1.25 Quilt
I finally finished quilting this little quilt that I pieced with $1.25 in quarter charms from Gather Here. I don't usually gravitate towards pinks, but I was tempted by these when I saw them all together at the bottom of the charm bin. I had also just bought a large piece of hot pink kona on clearance so I mixed in a little of that.
Of course, because these were charms, I didn't have enough of any of the fabrics for binding, so I ended up buying some yardage -- of a Kaffe millefiori and Erin McMorris Somersault-- anyway. And the backing. And the white. So, it's not really accurate to call it a $1.25 quilt, but I'm going to anyway.
I'm really happy with the way the quilting came out. Initially I was planning to do skinny irregular echo lines all over the surface, but after doing one diamond, I decided I really loved the contrast between the almost sculptural quality of the quilting and the unquilted portions. I used the edge and various holes and lines in my walking foot as guides to keep the lines straight but vary the widths.
This was such a fun quilt to make, and I love the result. It makes me want to try a larger version someday, though I thought I might get bored making so many simple blocks (not to mention all the straight line quilting). This is now hanging in my office where it really brightens up my previously-bare wall.

Alexis, thats awesome!!!! I love everything about it! The quilting is fantastic! I've never been to gather here but I'm totally going now!!! You should go to Portsmouth fabric if you've never been.
Thank you so much! No, I've not been. Time for a trip!
